Where is the Pacific Island Camp? 

The Roll Chasers Camp 2023/2024 will be held in Siargao, Philippines at a local gym and also at a partner resort.

Who are the Roll Chasers coaches/instructors? 

Our guest coaches for the camp will be top notch athletes/coaches who have vast international experience, amazing high level jiu-jitsu knowledge and great role models on and off the mats.

Is the camp open to all levels, affiliations and teams? 

Yes. All Roll Chasers jiu-Jitsu camps and events are open to any academy and affiliations. We want to bring the jiu-jitsu community closer together from all over the world.

I’m a beginner in jiu-jitsu, can I still join? 

Yes. Any belt level rank is welcome. 

Are flights included? 

Airfare is not included. You will need to arrange your own flights and be responsible for your bookings. Local airport can be accessed via many international airports. Please check local airlines, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and SkyJet for flight deals.

What is included in the Roll Chasers Pacific Island Camp (full camp ticket) excluding day passes?

How does the booking reservation process work?

Roll Chasers does have a first come, first serve policy. Once payment is confirmed, we will send a final confirmation receipt by email within 5-7 business days. Our events team will contact you, if we will need more information. A Roll Chasers camp manual and waiver form will also be sent a month before the scheduled camp date. Please contact us if you need help with arrangements for families, teams or big groups. We have limited slots available. Please reserve your spot early.

Can I do installment payments for the camp?

Yes. This is only available for full camp packages. We have limited spots for these camp packages and have a first come first serve policy. Full Camp Ticket Installment Non-Refundable Deposit Payment (Available for early bird reservation only). Payment plan schedule for each full camp package will be sent via email separately as well once initial non-refundable deposit is confirmed. You may also request to receive the updated easy payment schedule at info@rollchasers.com.

How do I get there? 

Siargao is a tear-drop shaped island in the Philippine Sea situated in the southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao del Norte. The island is easily accessible to many countries via international airports through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) or Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). 

Airport transfers from the airport to the Siargao resort and back can be arranged with our events team prior. Please contact us and share your flight information.

Which airport should I fly in to? 

Sayak airport, also known as Siargao Airport (IAO), is an airport serving the general area of Siargao Island, located in the province of Surigao del Norte in the Philippines. We advise all our camp participants to fly in to Siargao Airport. Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and SkyJet have great deals. 

What time does the first activity start ? Are there any options to stay extra days before or after the camp?

Registration check-in at 1:30PM and first class is at 4PM on the first day. The last session of the camp will be on the morning of the last day. With regards to your own schedule, you can arrive before and also stay extra days at the Island but you will need to make separate arrangements for accommodations and airport transfers.

What is the deadline for signing up? 

As long as there are spots left, you will still have a chance to join our Roll Chasers camp. 

I can’t come for the whole camp. Can I still go and participate?

Roll Chasers will have limited day passes available to be purchased online. Please purchase early. These day passes will be sold out fast.

What is the refund/cancellation policy? 

Cancellation 90 days or more prior to the start date will get you a 50% refund. Refunds will be processed within 30 days. No refund will be issued if cancelled 89 days or less prior to the Roll Chasers camp start date. Camp tickets are transferable though. You may transfer your spot to another person at no additional cost. In case you have to cancel your participation, you have the option to sell your ticket. This can be sold to a friend or maybe someone on our waiting list. You can contact us with regards to this. 

What language will the coaching and instruction be in? 

All jiu-jitsu sessions will be in English.

Will the jiu-jitsu classes be Gi and No-Gi? 

This camp will be mainly gi but there are a few sessions for no-gi in open mat sessions.

What are training schedule like? 

We plan on running sessions in the mornings and afternoon/evenings, but the schedule may vary due to weather conditions or camp changes.

How many hours of BJJ training are there per day? 

Sessions will be 1 to 1.5 hours long. We offer close to ten mat sessions throughout the camp. There will be open mats in case you want to roll and do more drills with other participants. 

Will I be allowed to film during the camp? 

The coach/instructor will advise before his or her session.

Do you have a WiFi connection? 

Yes, there is WiFi connection at the resort. But you are on vacation. Spend more time interacting with the other participants. Explore local culture. Meet people from around the world. Disconnect to connect.

Does the hotel offer laundry services? 

Yes. This will be part of the full camp packages. Daily kimono laundry service is complimentary to all full camp participants. Please bring 2-3 gis for the camp. Please refer to our events team for more information. 

Can I bring my wife/husband who doesn’t train? 

Yes. They can definitely join non-jiu-jitsu related activities like yoga, island hopping or surfing. We do offer a discount for non-practitioners partners. Please contact us for more information.

Can I bring a child? 

Yes. You can as long private suites are still available to accommodate your family. Please contact us for more information and learn more about our child policy at the camp. 

Can I bring my child or significant other to the classes? 

The classes are exclusive for jiu-jitsu practitioners attending the camp. 

Is there an age limit for participation? 

There is no age limit participation for the camp. Participants who are under 18 years old must sign a waiver and be accompanied by a legal guardian.

I am traveling alone and I want to have a room just for myself? Is this possible?

Yes. Please see more details about camp tickets for solo travelers. We have limited availability for this option. 

Where do the participants come from? 

All over the world who share the same passion as you.

Will I receive a ticket in the mail? 

A confirmation email instead will be sent to you when payment is confirmed. This will serve as your final booking reservation.

What should I bring?

  • Jiu-jitsu gear, belt, gis (we advise at least 2-3), no-gi gear and beach wear; clothes enough for the camp (travel light)

  • Photocopy of passport and travel insurance

  • Cash (Philippine Pesos) for extra personal expenses

  • Camera and video camera

  • Light rain jacket 

  • Sandals or slippers

  • Insect repellant 

  • Medication if recommended by your doctor; small first aid travel kit 

  • Sun block cream 

  • Electrical adaptor for Asian (Philippines) outlets

  • Sports or stainless water bottle

  • Beach walkers for island hopping (optional)

  • Laptop and smartphone (optional)

  • Flash drive (for photos)

Do I need a visa? 

You will need to check with your local Philippine Embassy for details. You will need to have a valid passport and a Philippine visa if needed. You will not be permitted to enter Philippines if your passport is going to expire within six months of your departure or if you are from a country that requires a special visa to enter. Most travellers coming from the Canada, USA, Australia, Asia and Europe are issued tourist visas upon arrival, but if you carry a passport from other countries it is wise to check if you will need a visa. The standard tourist visa is applicable for up to 30 days. If you plan on staying longer in the Philippines, you must apply for an extended stay visa at your local Philippine Embassy prior to departure. 

Do I need to take any health precaution? 

If you take a prescription medication make sure you bring the necessary paperwork that goes with it in case of an emergency. For more information please consult your doctor. We cannot be held liable for changes to travel arrangements or delays brought about by external influences or transport providers.

With regards to keeping everyone safe, we will have Covid-19 health protocols in place for the event. More information and any new health restriction updates (Covid testing, etc) to be sent to all participants prior to the event (please check regularly with your local embassy with regards to any health restrictions prior to travel).

What’s the local currency? 

The local currency is Philippine Pesos. You shouldn’t have any issues using a credit card in the tourist hot spots but having a little bit of cash on hand can be good. Travel credit cards and debit cards will allow you to access and spend your funds conveniently in the Philippines. There are ATMs on the island but have limited capacity for transactions.

How much money do I need to bring

This will depend on your extra personal expenses. You need to bring money for food, drinks, extra snack and beverages and other personal activities that are not part of the camp.  

How to transfer a camp ticket? 

For information about ticket transfer and waiting list, contact us via email. If you chose to sell your ticket to someone else, please give us a notice about this as soon as possible, so we can update our records. 

In case you have to cancel your participation, you have the option to sell your ticket. This can be a friend or maybe someone on our waiting list.

All camp tickets are non-refundable 89 days or less prior to the camp start date. This is necessary to avoid the risk of people canceling shortly before the camp, where it will be too difficult/much work for us to re-sell the ticket and we might have paid upfront reservation fee for food, accommodation, transportation etc.
